If cleaning your window screens got pushed to summer, don\u2019t worry. The weather is still nice enough where you can clean your window screens with ease.<\/p>\n

Window screens should be deep cleaned once a year. This is due to how much dirt and grime can amass on them in that time. From dust and dirt to bird droppings, screens can become filthy fast.<\/p>\n

No matter how you\u2019re cleaning your windows<\/a>, the first thing you need to do is remove your window screens from the windows. How you clean the windows will depend on the type of windows you have. Be sure to follow the instructions so you don\u2019t do any damage. Then, once your screens are removed, set them in an area where they can be cleaned and dried. We recommend a cement surface like a driveway.<\/p>\n

1. Before getting your screens wet<\/h4>\n

Break out the vacuum cleaner. Then, use a handle with soft bristles to gently suck away any loose dust and pollen particles. You\u2019ll repeat this step after your window screens have air-dried.<\/p>\n

2. Soapy scrub<\/h4>\n

Take a gallon of hot water and add \u00bc cup of dish detergent. Mix it together until it\u2019s soapy. Then, take a soft-bristled brush or a microfiber cloth and dip it in the mixture. Don\u2019t use paper towels; because of the screens, pieces could break off, undoing your hard work and making your screens messier.<\/p>\n

With gentle, circular motions, scrub your window screens on both sides. Make sure you\u2019re only applying as much pressure as you need so your screens don\u2019t tear! Once you\u2019re done, break out your garden hose and rinse them thoroughly. Pat them dry with a microfiber towel and then leave them to dry completely. If you haven\u2019t cleaned your windows yet, this is a good time to break out your squeegee and tackle those.<\/p>\n

3. Drying<\/h4>\n

Once your window screens are completely dry, it\u2019s time to give them another vacuuming before putting them back up. Using a vacuum cleaner on your screens, nab any dirt that may have crusted on them from cleaning or any dust, dirt and pollen that may have got on them overnight. Then, follow the instructions to put your screens back in place, and you\u2019re done!<\/p>\n
